HITS AFRICA
Fully owned subsidiary of HITS Telecom Holding K.S.C. and is considered as a holding company of all investments in the African Continent:
1. HITS EG Company : Equatorial Guinea
2. HITS Tanzania Company " ExcellentCOM " : Tanzania
3. SemaTel Company : Democratic Republic of Congo
4. Atlantic Wireless "LiberCell " : Liberia
The African mobile telecommunications market is a highly attractive investment opportunity, with high subscriber growth for the past five years and projected to continue double-digit growth over the coming five years. With penetration rates at some 30% - 40% of the market and major market opportunities being opened up by advances in wireless and Internet delivery technologies, Africa represents a major potential growth market for companies that are able to combine sound investment strategies, experience in the marketplace and a flexible and value-driven approach to opening new market opportunity.
HITS Africa is to pursue an aggressive roll-out and growth strategy in the African continent and is currently building new generation communications networks in Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea. As HITS also have a License in Democratic Republic of Congo
Tanzania
Tanzania is a market of some 38 million populations with a mobile penetration of some 40%. HITS is the majority shareholder in Tanzanian company ExcellentCOM, which holds a national license to operate converged network services and facilities, including GSM 1800, microwave and WiMAX frequency spectrum. The network is currently being surveyed prior to network rollout.
Liberia
Liberia has a population of some 3.1 million and a mobile penetration of over 30%. HITS is a 30% shareholder in Liberian operator Atlantic Wireless, which is licensed to provide both national and international mobile voice and data services over GSM 900/1800 and WiMAX networks. The network is operational.
Democratic Republic of Congo
Congo has a population of some 62 million people and a mobile penetration of under 20%. Hits is the majority shareholder, with a 60% holding, in SemaTel, an operator holding a 20-year license to operate GSM1800/850 mobile networks and an international gateway.
Equatorial Guinea
With a population of some 1.2 million and a mobile penetration of 30%, Equatorial Guinea is a small but fast-growing economy. HITS Africa holds a license to develop fixed, data and mobile services to the country and proposes to develop GSM, UMTS and WiMAX infrastructure as well as fibreoptic backbone and international gateway facilities. HITS have been in operations since the launch of HITS Equatorial Guinea in November 2009.
